2011 Sign Up Information

Sign-ups are about to be held for the 2011 swim season. The county is charging $175.00 per swimmer this year (add an additional $15 per swimmer for non-county residents) and checks are made payable to MCRD. Parents of new swimmers should meet with the Coach before or after practice for evaluation of their child.

WE ARE SEEKING NEW SWIMMERS IN EACH AGE GROUP. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! WE WANT A LARGE TEAM, BRING A FRIEND - EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN THE FUN

Financial assistance is available through Montgomery County Department of Recreation. Please email or phone the A team rep for more information.

The Western County Pool is owned and operated by the Montgomery County Recreation Department. The County provides, among other things, the coaches, the pool staff, ribbons to 5th place, and so on... The registration fee is per swimmer and all the money goes directly to the MCRD to pay for those items. Checks are made payable to MCRD.  Registration will be held at the Western County Pool on May 31, 2011 but can also be done online at https://recweb.montgomerycountymd.gov/Activities/ActivitiesAdvSearch.asp Barcode 303170. The registration and information form is also available to download here.

Additional Fees

Every year, the Poolesville Swim team sponsors additional place ribbons, pep rally supplies, end-of-season awards, equipment, and the initial stocking of the concession stand along with an end of year ice cream social, and a spaghetti dinner.  The funding for these items DOES NOT come from county, but rather from separate funds created by the swim team. There are a few ways we generate funds: Concessions, swim apparel (although apparel is sold pretty much at cost) and something called a "Social Fee".

The Social Fee is $20 for one swimmer, $25 for 2 or more swimmers and it serves a few purposes. First, It provides initial capital to use for concessions, advanced swim suits purchases and additional ribbons since we award up to 8th place in our B-Meets instead of 5th.

We please ask that the Social Fee be covered within the first week of swim team practices. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the A team rep for more information.

Go to the Clinics!! It's Educational and Fun!!

We strongly encourage parents to participate in their child’s swim efforts by becoming an MCSL Official. Clinics provide instruction for the following positions: recorder/scorer, Timer/Head Timer/Take-off Judge, Stroke & Turn, Starter and Referee. The instruction is suitable for those who are new to swimming and to officiating.

It’s also an ideal opportunity for those parents who are new to swimming. If you participate in the Stroke & Turn clinic for example, you will become a better swimming parent because of what is taught about the swimming techniques for each stroke. If you child gets DQ’d at a meet, you’ll understand why and it will help the coaches tremendously by being an educated fan!

If you have been a timer in the past, it’s time to move up! Timers can be easily trained at a meet. We need your meet experience to fill the gaps by those parents who children have moved or have graduated. We need to fill the empty slots. In most cases, you will be given the opportunity to "shadow" an experienced official to learn all the ins and outs of officiating a meet. WE’LL SEE YOU AT THE CLINIC!!!
