4.     Stroke judging will be the same as for an A meet.

5.     All other situations will be governed by MCSL rules.

7.     The 2011 season’s first meet will be on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011.

8.     The “B” Superstars meet has been divided into two meets of three teams each.  This year’s meets will be held at Germantown and Poolesville with a start time 5:30 PM on July 20th, 2011.

9.     The “B” Relay Carnival has been divided into two meets of three teams each.  Relays will be held at Quince Orchard and Westleigh. The B Relay Carnivals will be held at the times indicated on the Calendar.  See the “Relays Carnival Officials” table to determine where your team will swim, what lanes your team has been assigned and the officials your team needs to supply.

ELIGIBILITY

1.     General:

a.         In a swimming week (Saturday – Friday), a swimmer is eligible to Swim:

1.         An individual event (including the I.M.) only once per week in either an A or B meet.

2.         A total of three individual strokes and one I.M. per week.

2.   Restrictions:

a.         A swimmer is not eligible to swim in a Wednesday night meet (i.e., for place or ribbon) if he/she scored in two or more events on the previous Saturday. This swimmer is only eligible to swim exhibition.

3.     Exhibition:

a.         A swimmer who has scored in two or more events the previous Saturday may swim exhibition in one of the two off-strokes or I.M., if there is an available lane.

b.        At the coach’s request (i.e., he “needs a time”), a swimmer may swim any stroke as exhibition.  (This rule is to be used with discretion by coaches and team representatives.)

c.         Exhibition swimmers must wear an orange cap.

4.     There will be no swimming up to an older age level – except in events 45 & 50 for the 15 – 18 age group and the “B” Relay Carnival.

5.     All swimmers must perform a “legal” stroke in order to participate.

6.     Meet Entry Guidelines:  For all swimmers entering a Wednesday Night meet, coaches are asked to ensure (preferably by timing) that swimmers can meet the following guidelines:

a.     A swimmer competing in any 25m race be able to swim the stroke legally and in 60 sec or less

b.    A swimmer competing in the 100m IM be able to swim all strokes legally and finish the event in 3 minutes or less.

SEEDING

1.       An event will be seeded by entry times, from slowest to fastest. Exhibition swimmers will swim in the available (usually outside) lanes.

2.       First time swimmers will be entered with a N.T. (no time).

3.       The visiting team will email the team’s entries by Tuesday, 6 p.m., the evening before the swim meet. In the email include a meet roster, team member ID numbers, and a list of all exhibition swimmers.

4.       No deck entries are permitted – except: to make corrections of the computer entry errors or coaches discretion.  No new heats will be formed.  Submissions must be made to the scoring table prior to visitor’s warm-ups.  Any additions after the start of the meet must be approved by both B reps.

5.       Each team will provide two clerks of course.

6.       Events may be combined at the recommendation of the clerk of course and computer scorer.

SCORING

1.     There will be no points scored for finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th as in A meets.  Therefore, no scores will be announced at B meets.

2.     Ribbons will be awarded to 8 places.

3.     Ribbons for heat winners will be given, excluding exhibition swimmers.

4.     There will be no relays in the regular dual Wednesday night meets.

 ‘B’ Relay Carnival Meets

1.       A swimmer is eligible to swim in this meet if:

a.     He/she did not participate in the ‘A’ Relay Carnival or only swam in only one event of the ‘A’ Relay Carnival.

b.    Participants of two or more events in the ‘A’ Relay Carnival are ineligible.

c.     There is a maximum of 4 relay events between the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Carnivals.

d.    Swimmers may “swim up” if there are vacancies in any age groups.  They must stay in that age group for the entire meet.  Exceptions are to be agreed upon by all B Reps at the meet prior to the event

2.       If ‘B’ Relays are held before ‘A’ Relays, coaches should field teams to make sure swimmers who will most likely not swim ‘A’ relays swim multiple ‘B’ relay events.  The clear top swimmer in each age group and gender is not eligible for these relays, and swimmers with all star times in 2 or more events are not eligible unless they swim up (if possible 2 age groups).  These are guidelines.  Coaches should use judgment to keep B relays fair for all swimmers.

3.       The coaches should field their Relay teams so each child swims at least 2 to 3 times.

4.       There will be two relay teams for most events, except as noted on the Relay Carnival Order of Events or as pre-determined by all B-Reps prior to their carnival.

5.       This meet will have ribbons to 6 places; no heat ribbons will be given at this meet.  Teams may provide their own 7th, 8th and participation ribbons.  1st through 6th place ribbons will be provided by the league.

6.       This meet will begin at 6PM, 5:30 at QO.  Email rosters from Team Manager with team ID numbers to the host team automation person in advance.

7.       Coaches should have relay teams formed and on cards before coming to the meet.

8.       All medley Relays will be swum in the same order as A Relays: back, breast, fly and free.

9.       Clerk of Course will be responsible only for their own team members at the Relay Carnival.

10.    See next page for Relay Carnival order of events.
